The Black Heritage Society donated the $120,000statue by Ken Washington of Greensboro, N.C. to Houston's public art collection. It is displayed in memorial plaza at MacGregor Park.

Black Heritage Society maintains an official IPM License from The King Center in Atlanta, Georgia. 

This is our story of The First Original MLK Parade in Houston, Texas, January 1978.  This paradigm is not absolute.  Willard Vital, Founding President, Helen Johnson, longstanding Board Member, and Teresa Brewer, newest Board Member.  Martin Luther King Jr. Foundation, Inc. is a 501 C (3) Organization.  Thank you for your support, and your donations are appreciated.

 We are proud to “Welcome the ‘Spirit’ of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial and Park Plaza at MacGregor Park in Houston, Texas. Representing one of few in our entire nation, the MLK Memorial Plazas is a must see tourist attraction and community treasure. The memorial honors Dr. King’s legacy and contributions to peace, justice, equality, human dignity, and education

The organization aims to inspire, teach, and honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the weekend of the federal holiday occurring on the third Monday of each January with a commemorative parade and celebratory festive community activities throughout the weekend.
