Ovide Duncantell Jr
Ovide Duncantell Jr. was born in Natchitoches, Louisiana, in 1936. He served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1959. In 1969, Duncantell jr. began working for the Anti-Poverty Program-Houston Community Action Association. He later created "The Central Committee for the Protection of Poor People." In 1974, Duncantell Jr. became Founder and Executive Director of the Black Heritage Society Inc. Ovide Duncantell Jr. was instrumental in renaming South Park Blvd to Martin Luther King Jr. On January 21, 1978, Ovide Duncantell Jr and the Black Heritage Society hosted the 1st Annual "MLK" Parade in the USA with the Reverend Martin Luther (Daddy) King Sr as Grand Marshal.
